Thomas Kiprotich repeats win at UNICEF Half Marathon
It may have been due to the hot and humid conditions that Thomas Kiprotich took 2 minutes longer than last year, however heat and humidity could not prevent him from winning the UNICEF Charity Run for Children 2009 with a safe margin. Stefano Passarello, who came in second in 2008, run the fastest time in the 10k race this year. The race jury disqualified him after a complaint by Gi Ka Man who was declared winner instead. The decision is being hotly debated in HK's Chinese language web space.
Last year's winner of the women's competition Fan Sui Ping was beaten by Leung Ying Suet, who won in 1:24:15, the fastest time for a woman on this course.
Many participants complaint about the "traffic jam" at the point where the 10k and Half Marathon field merged.
